Overview

The Bournemouth and Poole College is located across five campuses around the seaside towns of Bournemouth and Poole on the south coast of England. It offers courses ranging from vocational diplomas to foundation and BSc degrees, as well as English language programmes including A-Levels and foundation courses. It is quite large by college standards with 4,700 students enrolled, around 200 of whom are international.

Services

The International Office runs a number of trips and events throughout the year, including cultural celebrations and visits to cities such as Bath and Oxford. The office also provides support on visa applications and bank accounts, as well as an induction programme at the beginning of the year. The College has been awarded a prestigious Beacon Award for International Student Support. Students are also allowed to join a drop-in English Language Support Class once a week, which includes written assignments to improve language skills.

Results and Destinations

International students from The Bournemouth and Poole College have progressed on to a number of top universities, including Imperial College London, The London School of Economics, The University of York and The University of Bath.

Rankings

Accommodation

Students can choose to stay either in homestays or student accommodation, the former being compulsory for students under 18. Most student accommodation is en suite and all is self catered, in and around Bournemouth. The College highly recommends that all students stay with a local family for at least the first year as it offers an opportunity to improve language confidence and immersion in British culture. There are a large number of homestay options available and student services endeavour to match compatible students and homeowners.
