University of Sheffield – Law Webinar Series
Join us on Thursday, August 27th at 5pm ET as we welcome representatives from the University of Sheffield.
Peter Odell, Senior University Teacher, will be sharing his insights of the Law School, and why it could be the perfect fit for you.
Sheffield's School of Law was ranked inside the top-10 for law in the UK. This means you are taught by leading academic staff including some of the world’s experts in law and criminal justice. Our qualifying law degrees (LLB and MA in Law) are recognised by the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) as satisfying many core aspects of the common law knowledge required to practise in Canada.
Sheffield has excellent work experience opportunities which provide students with the chance to help and advise real clients through in-house and community-based volunteering schemes. They can also work at the local courts, work with victims and witnesses of crime within local charities, or work in the Miscarriages of Justice Review Centre evaluating cases of possible wrongful imprisonment. Many law schools will have one or two pro bono schemes, where students experience what it is like to interact with and advise clients with real world legal problems. At Sheffield, there are eleven pro bono schemes, including four in-house law clinics, providing over 200 pro bono places to students each year. This means that you will have more hands-on-experience interacting with real clients than at most competitor law schools, which will give you a real advantage when applying for jobs.
As a member of the prestigious Russell Group, the University of Sheffield offers a world-class education in a vibrant and welcoming city in the heart of the UK.
