Overview
The UCL Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE) offers a wide range of language courses catering to various proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners. These courses encompass languages such as French, Spanish, German, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and many others. Courses are designed to develop both spoken and written proficiency, with a focus on practical communication skills.
Students will benefit from:
- A portfolio of full-time pre-degree courses (undergraduate and graduate) and summer courses for international students, ongoing throughout the calendar year
- Academic writing and speaking support for native and non-native English speakers, offered through the UCL Academic Communication Centre
- Degree-integrated MFL, EAP and British Sign Language (BSL) modules at undergraduate and graduate level
- A range of credit-bearing modules in science, medical sciences, health, business, management, humanities and education, taken via the UCL Summer School and delivered through UCL faculties
Services
Orientation days take place for all non-UK students at the start of each year, and will involve information on London, opening a bank account, working in the UK, as well as practical advice on day-to-day living. Pre-sessional English lessons are also available if you need to improve your reading, writing, speaking, listening before your studies.
Accommodation
University College London provides a range of housing options which includes two Halls of Residence (catered), self-catered Student Houses and Intercollegiate Halls (both catered and self-catered) shared with other colleges of the University of London.
Location
UCL Centre for Languages & International Education is based in the centre of London by Russell Square. The area is served by many bus and tube routes, with main hubs such as Euston and King’s Cross a short walk away. Access to Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick airports is also extremely easy for students flying in from around the world.
