Gain a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in the UK in 2 years

Canadian students who already have a university degree in any subject can study a two-year LLB/JD in the UK, known as Graduate Entry Law, Senior Status Law, or an Accelerated LLB.

This two-year Law degree covers all core modules and foundations of Law, generally allowing students to choose elective modules in the second year. A UK LLB degree is the equivalent of a Canadian Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Benefits of Studying Senior Status Law in the UK

  • Study Law in the country where Common Law originated
  • Gain a qualifying Law degree in just two years
  • Gain work experience at a Law firm whilst studying
  • Benefit from an international and multicultural university experience
  • Learn through lectures and small tutorial groups, with one-on-one time with professors available
  • Some universities will offer opportunities to study a year in France and a combined degree of English Law and French Law for students wishing to practice in Quebec
  • Gain an internationally recognized qualification
  • Apply to up to five law schools for just $45 CAD

Law Accreditation

To practise Law in Canada, students with LLB degrees from overseas universities will need to assess their qualifications with the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA). In order to obtain an NCA Certificate of Qualification, you will likely be required to sit further tests upon your return to Canada.

Read our Law Accreditation page to learn more about returning to Canada with a UK Law degree or ask one of our Consultants.
