BIPOC Mentorship Program for 2023 entry

Global Esquire Canada and the BlackNorth Initiative Mentorship program will provide up to 25 aspiring BIPOC professionals with mentoring and counselling on legal and Law-related careers. Two students will receive a $2,500 scholarship to fund their studies at Law School in the UK and access to key professional networks through an extensive Mentorship program.

The organization was founded by Global Esquire Canada’s Chief Consultant Sara Bond, LLB, LLM, TEP, a UK Law graduate and member of the black community. Sara is a Canadian Lawyer and is employed with RBC Wealth Management.

Global Esquire Canada BIPOC Law Mentorship Program Enquiry Process

StudyIn will guide you through the application for this program exclusive to our Law students.

Register your interest through our enquiry form and an StudyIn Consultant will reach out to you to confirm that you fit the eligibility criteria. If you already have a Consultant then speak to them to learn more.

  • Personalized career guidance and planning are needed to support their development and advancement in their legal careers.
  • Enhanced capability and competency to access law firms, corporate legal departments and Law-related organizations that will create meaningful transformative pathways to successful legal and Law-related professional careers.
  • Access to Internships with Partners of GEC (Currently: Pearson and Osuji and Smith Lawyers)
  • Scholarships awarded annually

Program Eligibility Criteria

  • Apply to the program first to obtain assistance with the application.
  • Be a member of the Black, Indigenous or Person of Colour (BIPOC) community.
  • Be aged 18-29 at the time of enrollment.
  • Canadian permanent resident or citizen.
  • 500-700 words on why you have a passion for studying law or a law-related degree in the UK.
  • The deadline to apply is April 30th, 2023

Scholarship Criteria

The students with the most financial need and little to no support may be awarded a one-time entrance scholarship.

  • Be in financial need.
  • 500-700 words on how your financial circumstances hinder your ability to access the legal profession.
  • Exceptional grades, and academic record.
  • Awards will be announced in Spring 2023.

Who is Global Esquire Canada?

Global Esquire Canada (GEC) is a mission-focused social enterprise. GEC aims to promote and be a resource center for study abroad opportunities, specifically for students who wish to study Law and Law-related degrees in the UK.

Through its Non-for-Profit mentorship scholarship program, Global Esquire Canada Mentorship Program (GECMP), will make a much-needed counselling and mentoring contribution to aspiring legal professionals in the BIPOC community.

The organization was created by Sara Bond, LLB, LLM, TEP, a member of the Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) community.
