One Fulbright Postgraduate Student Award is available each year for an American student to undertake a non-clinical PhD programme at King’s College London.

Award details

The Fulbright Commission, founded on 22 September 1948, aims to foster mutual cultural understanding through educational exchange between the US and the UK. The global Fulbright Programme is one of the most prestigious awards programmes world-wide operating in over 150 countries, with over 300,000 alumni. Approximately 15,000 UK nationals have studied in the US and over 12,000 US nationals in the UK on the Commission’s educational exchange programmes.

The Fulbright King’s College London Award covers any non-clinical PhD programme offered by the university.

Award value

  • Full tuition waiver

  • Personal living allowance (stipend)

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply, applicants must:

  • Be a US citizen and a non-UK resident

  • Hold a Bachelor degree or equivalent professional training/experience in a relevant field before departure to the UK

  • Dual US-UK citizens are eligible to apply.

  • The US-UK Fulbright program aims to foster cultural understanding between our two countries. Preference is therefore given to applicants who do not have extensive experience (six months or longer) in the UK.

  • Applicants with extensive UK experience should explain in detail how further experience in the UK will fulfil the Fulbright mission in ways that their prior visits did not.
