Douglas Bomford Trust Scholarship
The Douglas Bomford Trust (DBT) scholarship is open to all FdSc/BSc students studying at the Royal Agricultural University. The objective of the DBT is to advance knowledge, understanding, practice, and competence in the application of engineering and technology to achieve sustainable agriculture, food and biological systems for the benefit of the environment and mankind.
The DBT Scholarship can be used to support student training, acquisition of equipment, a part on a dissertation project, and/or a complementary idea aligned with agricultural engineering and technology. For example of previous scholarships awarded, please visit the DBT website.
The Trust may award up to four scholarships. The successful scholarship recipient(s) may be awarded funds individually typically up to a maximum value of £2,000 for one year.
Higher payments can be made in exceptional circumstances. The payment will be made in two equal parts; half to be paid in January 2021 and the balance in April 2021. Scholarship is conditional on the scholar(s) remaining registered as a full-time student at the Royal Agricultural University. The scholar(s) must pass all modules of study during the continuation of their scholarship and submit a written report to the award coordinator, Nigel Warner, prior to the receipt of their second payment.
The Scholarship is a competitive award across agricultural institutions, which will be evaluated by merit of the submitted application, academic achievements to date and interview. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the DBT Scholarship panel, whose decision is final and they reserve the right to withdraw the award at any time should they feel the conditions were not followed. The interviews will be in November 2020.
