Founded in 1796 as a “place of useful learning,” the University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university based in the heart of Glasgow. Its campus lies within a short walk of two mainline train stations, a bus station and the city’s subway, providing easy access to Glasgow and the wider UK.

Scotland’s largest city forms the backdrop to every student’s experience, offering world-class architecture and attractions, a diverse culinary scene, vibrant nightlife and exceptional shopping. Known as the “Dear Green Place,” Glasgow boasts more than 90 parks and holds UNESCO City of Music status, home to the OVO Hydro—one of the world’s busiest concert venues. Travel guides consistently name Glasgow a must-visit destination.

Be inspired, encouraged, challenged, supported and stimulated to learn.

For more than 200 years, the University has delivered academic excellence through world-class research and innovative teaching. Its four faculties—Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Science, and Strathclyde Business School—provide a practical, flexible learning environment, emphasising innovation-led teaching and the development of workplace-ready graduates.

The Careers and Employability Service partners closely with academic staff and employers to support learners throughout their studies and beyond. Many degree programmes include industrial placements, equipping graduates for a fast-changing, competitive environment.

Strathclyde’s research agenda informs its teaching and delivers real-world impact through collaborations with business, industry, technology and policymakers. Partners include Rolls-Royce, Microsoft, Siemens, GSK and Morgan Stanley. The University attracts some 1,800 doctoral researchers from over 80 countries, with almost 90 percent of its research rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).

A multi-award-winning institution, Strathclyde remains the only university to have twice received the Times Higher Education University of the Year award (2012 and 2019). It has also been recognised in categories such as Business School of the Year and Workplace of the Year.
