As summer approaches, Liverpool is blooming in the sunshine, and there’s every reason to celebrate!
For those considering studying in Liverpool this September, there’s never been a better time to apply. This month’s blog includes essential information for prospective undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, along with a round-up of exciting news from the city this summer.
Apply to Study in Liverpool This September
There is still time to apply for a place at the University of Liverpool this September.
Considering postgraduate study? The application deadline for September entry is 11 July, and many postgraduate taught programmes also offer January starts. To explore available courses and apply online, visit liverpool.ac.uk/courses/postgraduate-taught.
For undergraduate study, most courses remain open for application through UCAS until 30 June. After this date, applications can be submitted through the process known in the UK as Clearing.
What is Clearing?
Clearing is a route by which prospective undergraduate students, both from the UK and overseas, can apply for available university places after the main UCAS deadline of 30 June.
Clearing opens on 5 July. Applicants must already have their exam results and meet the University’s English language requirements to apply.
International students are eligible for Clearing if they:
-
Have received their exam results
-
Meet the University’s English language requirements
-
Have not received any offers, or have declined those they did receive
-
Did not meet the conditions of their offer
-
Are applying after 30 June
Applicants already holding an offer may also use Clearing. Whether they’ve had a change of heart or performed better than expected in their exams, students can explore new options through Clearing without making an immediate commitment. Multiple Clearing applications can be submitted before deciding to refer themselves to a specific university via UCAS.
UCAS may place students into Clearing automatically if they meet the criteria, or applicants can choose to release themselves into Clearing through the UCAS system.
Prospective students interested in Clearing at Liverpool are encouraged to complete the Register for Updates form at liverpool.ac.uk/clearing to be notified when Clearing opens and to receive useful guidance and tips throughout the process.
Essential Information for Applicants
Whether applying for undergraduate or postgraduate study, applicants will find everything they need at liverpool.ac.uk. The site includes details on scholarships and bursaries, accommodation options (including guarantees for international students who apply by the 31 July deadline), and country-specific advice on dedicated international pages.
Prospective students can also chat online with current students—some studying the same subject or from the same country—to get a real insight into life at the University of Liverpool.
News from Liverpool: What’s Happening in the City This Summer
Football and music are just two of the passions that help define Liverpool.
On the football front, Liverpool Football Club is celebrating its 20th English league title. The club’s title-clinching victory even registered on seismic sensors, with researchers at the University of Liverpool recording six seismic events from the crowd celebrations, reaching up to 1.74 on the Richter scale.
Meanwhile, Everton Football Club prepares to leave Goodison Park, its historic home since 1892 and the world’s oldest purpose-built football stadium, for a brand-new state-of-the-art ground at Bramley Moore Dock on Liverpool’s waterfront.
The city is also buzzing with cultural events and festivals this summer. BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend will take over Sefton Park for three days, bringing some of the biggest names in music to Liverpool. In August, International Beatleweek returns to celebrate the music of The Beatles, arguably the most iconic pop group of all time, in the city where it all began.
