Overview
The University of Strathclyde was formally awarded university status in 1964 and currently has almost 22,000 students enrolled from 100 countries on a single campus in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland. Strathclyde was awarded University of the Year in 2012 and Entrepreneurial University of the Year in 2013 by Times Higher Education.
The University is known both for its business school and close links with industry. Strathclyde is one of only 55 universities in the world that is ‘triple accredited’ by all three major bodies, and they recently opened another campus near Delhi. Many courses, such as product design and innovation or international business with modern languages, have been specifically designed with industry experts. The engineering faculty is the biggest in Scotland and has the largest electrical power engineering and energy research facility in Europe.
Services
The International Student Club meets weekly during the academic year and provide an informal forum for students to meet and get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Social events are planned, including day and weekend tours, international food evening events, trips to the theatre and music concerts. Weekly international meetings also provide a great opportunity for students to meet and make valuable contacts and friends.
Pre-sessional and in-sessional English courses are available and students are also entitled to up to four hours per week of free English language tuition and support. Staff are also available to help with other issues such as visas, employment and accommodation.
