The UdeM Exemption Scholarship

3 min read
Contents

The UdeM exemption scholarship program is designed to support international candidates in their university studies. Since the fall of 2020, it is possible to benefit from an exemption from the tuition fees normally charged to international students.

The goal of this program is to help the best talent from all countries attend one of the finest French-speaking research universities in the world. In turn, these international students will help fulfill our educational mission by enriching the cultural diversity of the Université de Montréal community.

Renewal of the scholarship program

The exemption scholarship grant is extended for the winter 2025, summer 2025, fall 2025, and winter 2026 terms.

Who can benefit from the exemption scholarship program?

The UdeM exemption scholarship is intended for international students (except French and French-speaking Belgian students).

To be eligible, the candidate must:

  • Have received an offer of admission to a study program at UdeM (as of Fall 2020)

  • Not be enrolled in an independent study program or short undergraduate program as of the Winter 2024 session, eg, certificate, major, minor, short program or preparatory year program for university studies

  • Have valid study authorizations (CAQ and study permit) for all sessions of their study program

  • Be continuously enrolled full time (unless absence is approved) for their entire study program

  • Not benefit from another form of tuition fee exemption

If one of the above conditions is not met, the UdeM exemption scholarship may be withdrawn.

Amount of the scholarship

Fees for the 2024-2025 academic year. Please note that the amounts indicated below are in Canadian dollars.

Undergraduate programs

You could benefit from the UdeM exemption scholarship if you are admitted to a degree program, namely a bachelor’s degree.

The excellence of your academic record is the only evaluation criterion to determine the value of the scholarship. This assessment is made based on the transcripts provided during the admission application. The results of the assessment will determine the amount to which you may be entitled. If after the assessment, your file does not qualify for level A or B, you will not benefit from the UdeM exemption scholarship.
