If you are an international secondary school student entering an undergraduate program at the university on a study permit, you may be eligible to receive one of the university’s International Merit Awards.
International Merit Awards are valued at $20,000 CAD over four years ($5,000 CAD x four years) and will be awarded to applicants with a grade point average of 80 per cent or greater as calculated at the time of admission. Successful applicants will be notified with an offer of scholarship from the university.
If a student requires less than four years of full-time study, they will only receive the portion for their study length (ie. If they only study three years full-time, they will receive $15,000 CAD max).
Canadian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible for the International Merit Awards.
This award may not be held in conjunction with other scholarships and/or awards, such as the Global Leadership Award, Awards of Recognition, Major Scholarships or In-Course Scholarships.
Student eligibility for renewal:
-
Enrolled in a course load of at least 80 per cent or 12 credit hours (normally, four courses per term)
-
Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher in your previous year
Note, if your residency status changes to domestic, you will no longer be eligible to receive this award.
