This renewable scholarship reflects Professor Daniel Powell’s passion for international development and teaching. It is also tied to his love for Latin America and its people, as he felt very close to their struggles and aspirations. This renewable scholarship is awarded to Latin American students entering Trent University who are intending to major in International Development Studies. Based upon academic achievement, financial barriers, and community and/or volunteer service. If there are no students who qualify in the International Development Studies (IDS) program, it can be awarded to Latin American students entering Trent in any program.
Eligibility:

You must be an international student paying international fees.

You must be studying in Canada on a study permit.

You must have applied to an undergraduate degree program at Trent University. Postgraduate certificates and graduate-level students are not eligible.

You must meet Trent University’s Admission requirements, including general and degree-specific requirements and the English Language Proficiency Requirements. (Please note that students do not need an admission offer to apply for the scholarships and awards).

You have a final high school average of 80% or more (Canadian Equivalent).

You will need to fulfill the conditions of your conditional offer letter and register for courses to receive the scholarship amount
