Overview

Bishop’s University is a small English-language liberal arts university located in Lennoxville, a borough of Sherbrooke in Quebec. It is one of the three universities in Quebec that primarily teach the English language. The University began its foundation by absorbing the Lennoxville Classical School as Bishop’s College School in 1843 and later received a royal charter from Queen Victoria in 1853.

Being a predominantly undergraduate university that is small in size (with around 2,900 full-time students), Bishop’s University intends to offer quality education to students in humanities, social sciences, fine arts, natural sciences, education and business.

Bishop’s University offers various programs from five academic divisions- Williams School of Business, School of Education, Division of Humanities, Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Division of Social Sciences. Although Bishop’s is primarily an undergraduate university, it also offers graduate courses in M.A, M Ed. degrees in education and M.Sc. in Computer Science and Physics.

Services

With students from over 50 countries making up almost 29% of the student population at Bishop’s, the University makes sure to provide all the necessary support and services to all incoming international students. The main point of contact between the University and other partner institutions from across the globe is Bishop’s International. The team works closely with faculties, schools and other administrative services in developing new international strategic partnerships and opportunities for students to experience campus internationalisation.

According to the Quebec Government, all International and Exchange Students must purchase the Sunlife Health Insurance Plan to continue studying at Bishop’s University. The University’s website has a compilation of all the relevant information needed by an international student while learning and living at Bishop’s, available at A-Z Guide.
