Overview
Trent University is one of the top undergraduate universities in Canada. It is a public liberal arts university located in Peterborough, Ontario, also having a satellite campus in Oshawa, that serves the Regional Municipality of Durham. The university is popular for its college system and its small class sizes.
Trent University is known for its strong academic programs in areas such as Environmental Science, Indigenous Studies, International Development Studies and Cultural Studies. Trent has a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, which means that students get more personalized attention from their professors in small class sizes.
Trent University has won several awards for its sustainability initiatives, including being named one of Canada's Greenest Employers in 2021 and receiving the Canadian College and University Environmental Stewardship Award in 2020.
Founded in 1964 on the ideal of interactive learning that is purposeful, personal and transformative for the students, it has over 12,000 students enrolled in 100+ dynamic academic programs across sciences, arts, social sciences and other professional study programs. Around 93% of Trent graduates are employed within six months of graduation and 95% of students have said that they are happy they chose this University.

Ranked among the best undergraduate universities in Ontario and first in Canada for scholarships and bursaries by Maclean’s University Rankings 2021.
Trent University has consistently ranked highly in various categories in Maclean's University Rankings, including being ranked 3rd in the primarily undergraduate category in 2022. Trent University was ranked 2nd in Canada and 14th globally in the 2021 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which measures universities' social and environmental impact.
Trent was also named one of the best universities in Canada by The Princeton Review in 2022 and rated A+ for student satisfaction in several categories, including teaching quality, campus atmosphere, and student life in The Globe and Mail Canadian University Report, in The Globe and Mail Canadian University Report.
Accommodation
Trent University provides residence and off-campus housing options to its undergraduate and graduate students in Oshawa and Peterborough. The Trent residences act as a home base and supportive community for the students who choose to live on campus. The Peterborough residences have traditional and suite-style options with a great learning environment. The academic and residential buildings at the Durham campus provide new spaces for students to learn, socialize and engage in different activities.
