The University of Brighton’s Sports Scholarships package has been enhanced for academic year 2025–26. Recent sports facility developments and an increased support package for talented athletes means Brighton is a great choice for those looking to combine their sporting aspirations whilst studying.

The benefits available to those that are successfully selected onto the programme each year are:

  • financial support:

    • UK / Home students: up to £2,500 for the academic year.

    • international students: fee waiver bursary up to £5,000 for the academic year, available for the top five undergraduate and postgraduate student athletes.

  • gym membership.

  • individual and/or small group strength and conditioning sessions.

  • access to medical services, including physiotherapy and sports massage.

  • professional coaching.

  • mentoring / lifestyle support.

  • athlete workshop programme covering topics such as sports physiology, nutrition, psychology, screenings, injury prevention and management and lifestyle management.

  • access to training facilities (where possible).

All scholarship students need to re-apply annually.

Who is eligible

Scholarships and the value awarded to individuals depend on the athlete’s current competition level and the number and quality of overall applications that year.

The minimum requirements for applying are to be competing at regional level competition.

You must have an unconditional or conditional offer for academic year 2025-26 from the University of Brighton to be eligible to apply for a scholarship or be a current student at the university.

Scholarships are open to a range of widely recognised sports and include disability sports.
