Six Australian universities have secured spots among the world’s top 100 most prestigious institutions in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2025. The rankings, based on the opinions of over 55,000 scholars globally, highlight Australia’s growing influence in higher education and research.
The University of Melbourne leads the pack, ranking 47th worldwide, followed by the University of Sydney (60th), Monash University (63rd), the University of Queensland (78th), Australian National University (86th), and UNSW Sydney (97th). Each of these institutions has improved its position compared to the previous year, reflecting their growing global reputation.
In subject-specific rankings, the University of Melbourne performed well in Law (11th globally), Education (16th), Clinical and Health (20th), and Psychology (25th), reinforcing its strong academic reputation. Monash University also demonstrated excellence, ranking 19th in Education, 31st in Clinical and Health, and 59th in Engineering.
