UCL has once again been recognised among the world’s leading universities, placing 9th globally in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, the third consecutive year it has held this position. This marks UCL’s 14th straight year in the global top 10, reflecting its strong academic and employer reputation, where it ranks within the top 5% of all institutions.
In addition, U.S. News & World Report has ranked UCL 7th globally and 3rd in Europe in its 2025–2026 Best Global Universities list, which evaluates over 2,250 institutions worldwide for research impact and academic standing.
These latest achievements follow UCL’s success in the QS Sustainability Rankings, where it was named 1st in the UK, 5th globally, and 1st in the world for knowledge exchange. UCL President & Provost Dr Michael Spence said: “To sustain this level of excellence across multiple global rankings is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the talent and dedication of our entire community.”
Earlier this year, UCL also ranked 1st globally in Education and Architecture, with 18 additional subjects ranked in the top 20 worldwide in the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
