US universities dominate global reputation rankings

3 April 2025

The Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2025 have once again reaffirmed the dominance of US universities in global higher education. Harvard University retained its number one position for the 14th consecutive year, underscoring its long-standing academic influence.

The rankings, based on over 55,000 academic expert responses, highlight institutions with the strongest global reputations. This year, the list expanded to 300 universities, incorporating a refined methodology that emphasises pairwise comparison and voter diversity for a more precise evaluation.

The United States continues to lead, with 30 universities in the top 50, including MIT (2nd), Stanford (4th), UC Berkeley (6th), and Princeton (7th). These institutions set the benchmark for research, faculty excellence, and global impact, solidifying the US as a premier destination for higher education.

If you are considering studying in the USA, arrange a free counselling with our expert team today. We can assist with your application and provide expert advice on university and course selection.
