Overview
Capital City College - Westminster Centre is one of the largest further education colleges in London and is part of Capital City College Group, alongside the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London, City and Islington College, an employer training provider, Capital City College Training, and an entrepreneurship social enterprise, Visionnaires.
A diverse student body of around 14,000 learners comes mainly from London, but many travel further afield across the South East and internationally in order to study on our acclaimed vocational and academic courses. We have four stunning centres across Camden and Westminster, located in the heart of the city in King’s Cross, Victoria and Soho.
English
For over 100 years, Capital City College - Westminster Centre has upheld a tradition of delivering quality English language programmes. The college is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English and is a member of English UK. The provision attracts students from around the world to study English in preparation for further study or employment.
Our courses are offered to Beginners, Elementary/Pre-intermediate, Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Each level is carefully structured to help you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills and develop your confidence to communicate in English in different situations (e.g. work, study, life in London).
Our teachers are very experienced and they use the most up-to-date materials and a variety of approaches to make sure that your classes are interesting, motivating and effective. Classes include group, pair and project work as well as computer-based activities.
Culinary Arts
WestKing is often recognised as the top catering college in the country, and was formed over a century ago by a committee including Auguste Escoffier and Cesar Ritz, it is also one of the oldest culinary schools in the UK. Capital City College - Westminster Centre upholds this tradition as one of the world leaders of culinary excellence, evidenced by our prestigious alumni, including celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver, Ainsley Harriott, Sophie Wright and Antony Worrall Thompson. The School of Hospitality has won many awards for its outstanding food and service in the two restaurants and for education from the Craft Guild of Chefs, among other organisations.
The College has a strong commitment to quality and excellence and is endorsed by The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Craft Guild of Chefs and Wine & Spirit Education Trust, among others. Capital City College - Westminster Centre was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education 2015 for its work in Hospitality and Culinary Arts. The School of Hospitality has strong links with industry, delivering training and partnering with some of the UK’s most recognised Hospitality names, including Michelin-starred restaurants, chain restaurants, and trade supporters. Students benefit from the college's rich industry links through work experience, as well as guest lectures and collaborations. The college regularly works with industry experts.
