Fulbright Commission Postgraduate Student Awards

Each year up to 9 awards are offered to US citizens for the first year of Masters or PhD study in any discipline at any accredited UK university/institution. Candidates will be selected by the US-UK Fulbright Commission and the Institute of International Education (IIE) to receive grants to be used towards tuition fees and maintenance costs in their first year of postgraduate study in the UK. Grants are for up to £20,000 (pound sterling), paid in instalments directly to the grantee, the first of which is typically given upon arrival in the UK. This funding is intended as a contribution towards the first year of tuition fees and general maintenance costs whilst in the UK. Limited sickness and accident benefits coverage (typically not needed with free access to the NHS) is also provided. All grantees in the UK attend a 3-day orientation program on arrival in September, a 5-day Fulbright Forum in January and a farewell event, the Fulbright ‘End-cap’.
