Overview
Johns Hopkins University is a private research-intensive university that is located in Baltimore, Maryland. It was founded in 1876 by the philanthropist Johns Hopkins, who envisioned a university that is dedicated to both research and teaching. It was the first major university in the US that was based on a European research institution model and is now consistently ranked among the top universities in the United States. There are four campuses in Baltimore, one in Washington, D.C, and many facilities throughout the Baltimore-Washington region, apart from some in China and Italy.
The university has nine academic divisions through which it offers undergraduate, graduate, and PhD programs in various disciplines. JHU is home to a significant Applied Physics Laboratory, which conducts national security and space exploration research.

The university has over 26,000 students from all 50 states and over 120 countries. Students get access to a varied arts and culture scene right at the university, where they can be creators or spectators. The university offers accommodation options through the traditional residence halls, most of which are doubles and a few of them singles.
