The Times Higher Education (THE) Awards 2024 shortlist has been revealed, with six universities nominated for the prestigious University of the Year title.
With over 700 entries submitted, THE Awards 2024 saw a record-breaking response, as universities showcased their resilience and dedication to “transform lives for the better.” This year’s ceremony marks the 20th anniversary of “the Oscars of higher education,” celebrating excellence across the sector amidst significant challenges.
The nominees for University of the Year are:

Ulster University – Celebrated for its pioneering work in cross-community education and significant contributions to economic and social development in Northern Ireland.

University of Stirling – Highlighted for its research in environmental sustainability, health, and well-being, making strides in these critical areas.

University of Surrey – Commended for its focus on research innovation, employability initiatives, and global student engagement.
