Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships is a programme of international scholarships offered by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish universities. The value of the scholarships is £8000 and these are offered for 1-year full time postgraduate master’s degrees in five subject areas:
- science
- technology
- creative industries
- healthcare and medical sciences
- renewable and clean energy
This includes a wide range of subjects across all of Scotland’s universities and higher education institutions. For example, under the third subject area, the creative industries sector would include study options in subjects such as:
- communications
- broadcasting
- film
- animation
- journalism
- publishing

Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships (SSS) provide a great opportunity to live and study in Scotland. Our scholars are those who are ambitious and career focused. Our chosen scholars should also have varied interests outside their academic studies, and the drive to expand their academic experience and knowledge in Scotland.
Eligibility
In order to be eligible to apply for a Saltire Scholarship, candidates must have a conditional or unconditional offer of a place at a Scottish university on an eligible postgraduate Masters level course.

Saltire Scholarship applications open on Friday 19th February 2021 and close on Friday 28th May 2021 at midnight (GMT).
