Overview
The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a public polytechnic institution situated in Burnaby, British Columbia. The main campus is in Burnaby with four more campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region. The school operates as a technical and vocational educational institution that offers apprenticeship programs for skilled trades along with degrees and diplomas for professionals and skilled technicians.
BCIT has six schools that provide full-time and part-time study options in subjects such as engineering, business administration, accountancy, digital arts, broadcast/media communications, nursing, medicine, computing, law and architecture. The institute also has a Technology Centre that undertakes applied research and provides technology transfer along with commercialization assistance.

Services
BCIT currently has more than 6,000 international students enrolled and the International Student Centre (ISC) is the main resource hub for all international students, providing International Orientation to all new students along with educating them about their study permits and medical insurance policies. There are events specifically designed for international students that are overseen by the ISC.

Student housing at BCIT is located on the Burnaby Campus. The housing facility is situated adjacent to the sports field and campus recreation area and the housing department strives to provide the students with a safe and comfortable living environment to stay on-campus. There is no dining facility available, but all suites are equipped with a kitchen with refrigerators, stoves, microwaves and toasters. Students are encouraged to bring their own cookware to prepare meals accordingly. Each student housing building has internet access.
