Overview
Founded in 1965, Simon Fraser University (SFU) is known for its research and academic infrastructure. Simon Fraser is an international university with a reputation, culture, and approach to learning that attracts students from around the world.
Simon Fraser has been recognised as the number 1 innovative university in Canada by WURI 2021 Global Top 100 Innovative universities and around 40% of the University student population consists of international students. It is home to three campuses in British Columbia’s three largest cities - Burnaby (main campus), Surrey and Vancouver.
SFU hosts around 34,000 students in total, 29,000 undergraduates and 5,000 graduates, and in total offers over 200 programmes through eight academic facilities, specialising in applied sciences, health sciences, environment, education, business, arts and social sciences, communication, art, and technology-related courses.
Services
SFU offers in-person and live virtual campus tours and orientation services to students. Student support services such as immigration consultation, international pathways, student advisory services, etc., are also available for international students.
A Global Student Centre has been established for students from different regions and cultural backgrounds. They share their experiences and engage with international students from other areas through this centre. Also, a Global Connections Programme is offered where the students can seek answers to their queries from a community leader.

Accommodation
Private single rooms are available on campus and students can choose to live in either of the eight residence halls or towers inside the campus.
Apart from residence halls, students can also choose to live in family housing located within the university campus. Family housing is only for students under 19 years of age who live with their parents or those who live with their partners.
Students can also live in LLC (Living Learning Communities), where they are paired up with students with similar academic and social interests to create a significant personal development and learning space.
