ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Fully-qualified – Holders of these awards are required to be admitted as a fully-qualified student in a Doctoral degree program at the University of Regina. For the purpose of this award a fully-qualified student is defined as:

  • An applicant who has a two year (min 30 credit hour) Master’s degree or equivalent;

  • An applicant who intends to undertake graduate studies in a field related to the Master’s degree.

In Good Standing – Students must maintain a minimum 80% average. An incomplete and/or failing grade from the previous semester’s work will render the student ineligible. Failure to continue to be fully eligible each semester while holding this scholarship, will require the scholarship to be canceled.

Post-Program Maintenance – Students who are, or will be, in post-program maintenance (i.e. have completed all formal credit hour degree requirements in the program and therefore register in GRST 995XX or GRST 996XX) are NOT eligible for this award.

Required:

  • GRST 800AA must be completed by the end of the first semester in which a student begins their program, in order to be eligible. Failure to complete GRST 800AA by the end of their first semester will require the scholarship to be discontinued.

  • Student must be a valid study or work permit holder. International Students who transition to permanent residency will have this award discontinued.

Registered Full-Time – Recipients of the IDSA must be registered in no fewer than 6 credit hours of course or thesis work pertaining to their program during the corresponding semester. For students with between 3 and 5 credit hours of unfulfilled requirements remaining in their programs, the number of credit hours in which they are required to register to qualify for funding will correspond with the number of credit hours remaining in their program.

Employment – There is no restriction on employment while holding this scholarship.

RATES OF SUPPORT – $1400 per semester.

All FGSR funding is subject to annual budgetary approval and up to the discretion of the Dean of FGSR.
