UK Civil Engineering Degree

Study fundamental engineering principles, including mathematics, health and safety, and sustainability, on a civil engineering degree

As a civil engineer, you will become involved in many activities, including planning, designing, constructing, maintaining, improving and managing the physical environment around you. You may help design transport systems, undertake the treatment and restoration of contaminated sites, enhance the energy efficiency of buildings or design and construct iconic structures.

Students will benefit from integrated learning and teaching through various methods, including laboratory classes, project work and fieldwork. Fieldwork ranges from the survey field course in your first year, the construction site field course in the third year, to fieldwork associated with many of the projects in the third and fourth years.

Many of the best civil engineering universities in the UK provide Integrated master’s (MEng, BEng) degrees, giving you great breadth and depth of study and flexibility in deciding which degree you want to graduate with during your studies. All civil engineering degrees in the UK are accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators of the professional institutions, which includes the Institutions of Civil Engineers.
