Chancellor’s International Scholarship

Contents

Available for applicants classified as international for fee purposes who have applied and been offered a place to study at the University on the UK campus in January 2025 for the first time. Amounts are variable from £500 up to £4000. No separate application is required, the scholarship will be awarded if applicants are eligible, being assessed against academic and English language criteria as well as personal statements and personal circumstances, and their tuition fee will be reduced accordingly.

Terms, conditions and eligibility criteria

  • Not available for any UG or PG School of Health & Social Work courses i.e:

    • MSc Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging

    • MSc Physiotherapy

  • Not available for Research, HIC or and online courses.

  • Only available on entry for the first time to the University – not in subsequent years.

  • Only available for UG or PG taught applicants – not for preparatory programmes or research.

  • Only available to applicants joining the University for the first time – not UH graduates or HIC graduates.

  • These may be exceptionally awarded at the University’s discretion on any of the above courses.

  • Only available for the January 2025 intake – applicants who fail to register cannot transfer the scholarship to subsequent intakes (unless agreed by the University).

  • Applicants cannot qualify for any other scholarships or discounts including: Student Success Scholarship, Early Bird Discount, 20% Herts Graduate Discount, International Partner Discount , King’s Award Scholarship, King’s Award Clearing Scholarship or UG Tri Annual Scholarship alongside the Chancellor’s International Scholarship (unless exceptionally awarded at the University’s discretion).

  • Applicants can qualify for the Full Payment Discount alongside the Chancellor’s International Scholarship if they pay their fees in full by 3 February 2025 for Semester B entry.

  • Applicants need to have applied to the University and have been offered a place to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • The scholarship will be administered as a deduction from tuition fees once applicants register at the University – not from their deposit amount. If they have paid their tuition fees in full it can be used for university accommodation (but not for the £150 accommodation deposit, as this is a refundable deposit).

  • Applicants must: have been offered and accepted a place on a full-time award-bearing University of Hertfordshire programme and be paying the full cost of the tuition fee from their own resources directly to the University of Hertfordshire, and not discounted or sponsored for any part of the fee by the University of Hertfordshire or an organisation such as an employer, charitable body or government department. (Any contribution by an external organisation to the student’s living costs, or a contribution from the student’s family to the fee or living costs, does not count as sponsorship under this scheme.)

  • Candidates will be required to meet all conditions of registration before the Scholarship is awarded.

  • For students that withdraw (both student & university initiated); all discounts will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis in line with the fee related liability and all discounts or scholarships will be subject to the terms and conditions of the award.
