Sussex offers a £3,000 fee waiver for previous Sussex students choosing to return to study a Masters degree. There are unlimited awards available and, regardless of how long ago you studied at Sussex, any graduate of the University – who graduated with either a Bachelors, Masters or PhD – is eligible.

Who is eligible

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Have graduated from Sussex with a Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree.

  • Have accepted an offer of a place on an eligible full time Masters course to start in September 2025.

Who isn’t eligible

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you:

  • Are applying for a Masters at a university that is not at the University of Sussex.

  • Are progressing into the final year of an integrated Masters at Sussex.

  • Studied at one of our partner institutions (i.e. BIMM or International Study Centre).

  • Studied at a UK University’s overseas campus or external programme.

  • Already hold another University of Sussex scholarship (i.e. Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship).

  • Are studying one of the Excluded courses listed below.

Excluded courses

You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study any of the following:

  • Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE).

  • Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS).

  • Courses at IDS.

  • Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status).

  • Degrees in Social Work (if receiving an NHS bursary).

  • Online courses.

  • Schools direct teaching courses.

  • Masters funded by the research councils (e.g. ESRC 1+3 funding).
